MDA Poster Series

Muscular dystrophy comprises a multitude of musculoskeletal diseases that are often passed on genetically and lead to the gradual decay of motor neuron functions leading to a poor prognosis for those who manifest symptoms, usually at an early age, of a MD spectrum disease. The MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) provides patients and their families’ assistance related to therapies, education, and comforting those facing MD and many other neurological disorders. MDA is also at the forefront of helping to find better therapies and ultimately a cure for all associated neurological diseases. https://www.mda.org/

My approach to creating this project lead through varying concepts with the primary goal being to provide an illustrated poster design that both helped to lift the spirits of those struggling with MD as well as raise awareness of the disease and the MDA mission to find a cure. I decided to focus on three key components or characters geared toward a different genders and or personalities. Each poster was created through utilizing a system of hearts that varied by size and then placed by hand rather than using the brush tool of clipping mask. The solution was reached after careful deliberation and research, with the end result being a much warmer and inviting set of posters than I had originally imagined.
